Do you want to be looked nervous when standing before of the audience?
Have you ever felt lack of something to say or suddenly become speechless? ...
Do you think presentation is more like a few minutes torturing?
Well… this may answer your problem…

How to make a good presentation???

a.    Brainstorming Ideas and choose the best topic
Whether you will do individual presentation or in a group presentation, try to take your time to discuss and formulate your topic. So you will not be distracted and change your topic in the process.
Good topic = related to the audience, hot news, something WOW… have a usefulness Value.

b.    Do research or Collect information by Observation, go to library, browsing On the Internet or making interview to somebody.

The more you collect data for your presentation, the easier for you to compose your draft. And of course, with more data, you know deeper about the topic you will make for your presentation.

As I mention above, you may collect data from observation, it means that you look around, and use your five senses to get as many as data as possible.
Go to library means that you are not supposed always go to library but it means that you do a library research based on articles, book, magazine, etc as long as the resources is a written text.

When you do an observation and interview, they are called as field research. Just before you make those two methods of field research you should prepare several questions first. So it makes your research more focus. And of course, it doesn’t waste your time. You may also bring recorder, camera or a questionnaire to help you with.

c.    Make word by word draft.

Draft is a number of words about what will you say when doing a presentation. Usually, presenter becomes speechless in the middle and audience get bored because the presentation is not interesting anymore. So a presenter should plan what he will say before doing a presentation. If your draft looks interesting, well, I could say that your presentation will be interesting too.

The content of your draft must be minimally consists of greeting, introduction with some funny statement or something wow… and the core or the content of your presentation.

You must mark how long you will do a presentation. How to measure it? Well it is easy, read all through your draft and time it up. And you know what to do when your draft is less than the time given to you. For addition, be animated when you read your draft.
One tip: adjust your language to your audience. Look! A Good presentation is not merely showing  in style by using higher level of language but the important is your audience can easily understand your topic and they feel fun with your presentation.

d.    Edit the draft.
Editing on the language aspect and the content. It means that when you were making your draft, you just write anything related to it. After you finish your draft, you have to make it perfect. How do we do that? You should check again you spelling, your grammar. When it has done, u can delete some of unimportant information or unnecessary. You minimize a silly mistake that be about to happen when you stand before the audience.
Well, you just cross out and

e.    Make a good copy of draft.
Well, I believe when you have finish your draft and has also edited it, I can imagine you could read your draft easily because it may be filled in by many cross out mark, circle, and correction. That is way, to help you easier when doing rehearsal you should make the good copy of your draft.  It is the final script of your presentation. Although it is unnecessary when doing presentation, because you can practice directly from your draft but making a good copy is really important when you compose a project or articles. It is not possible you collect and publish your draft as your good copy. True?...

f.     Use the good copy of the draft for the rehearsal. At least three time; with or using the text, without any text, plus animated ( Pause and Go, Eye Contact, body language)

g.    Make a representative material. We can do this section while we do rehearsal for our presentation. The most common material to support our presentation is powerpoint slides or just use a simple poster. By the way, using very interesting materials will be a very effective way to drag audiences’ interest toward your presentation.

h.    Dress rehearsal = final preparation, practice with all props, material and also cue card. Dress rehearsal means the final preparation just before presentation. if it is good than I could say your presentation will be much better.

i.      SHOW TIME = it is the Presentation itself. There are couple of things need to be considered. I would share you piece by piece.

j.      Evaluation = make a report in the term of reflection portfolio.

Well… that are the basic… we can’t do that only one or two things from the above but we should do it in order from one activity to other activity. Your Presentation must be …. Absolutely well done when you have done all items perfectly.

So the material needed for a good presentation can be sorted as follow:
a.      Sources of information based on topic
b.      Presentation draft and good Copy. We use these stuff during rehearsal
c.       Presentation material just like power point slides, hand out, or related objects
d.      A cue card

Have you realize what you have learned beside just doing presentation?... this is what you learned and  I know that you don’t realize this…

Say true or false after you read and think about every statement…
What should we do when we perform a presentation?...
Or how do we effectively rehearse for our presentation?…

Well… the answer is … wait for the next tips on this blog.
